Bio
I earned my BA in Mathematics from Reed College in 1999 and my MS from the University of Chicago in 2000. I spent one year working in finance in Chicago before earning my Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2006, with Benson Farb as my advisor. After a three-year post-doc at Yale University, I came to the University of Maryland in 2009.
Research
My research is in differential geometry and smooth dynamics. I specialize in Lorentzian and conformal geometry, among other non-Riemannian differential-geometric structures. My papers are available on my webpage math.umd.edu/~karin.
