Welcome to the Graduate Department of Mathematics at the University of Maryland
The Department of Mathematics runs two graduate programs, the Mathematics Program (MATH) and the Mathematical Statistics Program (STAT). We are also a major participant in Applied Mathematics & Statistics, and Scientific Computation Program (AMSC).
We offer a M.A. in Statistics, M.S. in AMSC, and Ph.D. for all three programs with no prior requirement of a Master’s. At this time, we do not offer a M.A. in Mathematics as a terminal degree, but it can be awarded on the way to completing the Ph.D.
For those interested in Mathematics Education (at the K-12 level), please see the Center for Mathematics Education in the College of Education.
